Worship in the Midst of Tragedy

I'm reading Job chapter 1 and am astounded at Job's response to losing his livelihood and his children: he mourned and then he "fell to the ground in worship".  Wow!  That would certainly not be one of my first responses! In verse 1 he was described as "blameless and upright; he feared God and shunned evil" and in verse 3 "He was the greatest man among all the people of the East".  I've always focused on verse 22 "In all this, God did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing" and overlooked the fact that one of his first responses was to worship. What an inspiration...not only to remember to worship during difficult times but to be blameless and upright and to have such a relationship with God that when difficult times come one of my first responses is to worship God. Thank you Job for inspiring me!

Bucket List

My 10 and 13 year old nieces created "bucket lists" last week. I was inspired my older niece's list (and amused by my younger niece's!). I decided I should make one as well so here's my starting list:
- become an experienced woodworker
- learn Spanish
- ride my bike around the rim of the Grand Canyon (if that's even possible)
- work close enough to home to ride my bike to work

I will be updating this list as I think of things. Hopefully this will inspire me to make these things happen. I'll keep you posted!

Mission Statement

Several years ago I had to write a personal mission statement in one of my education credential classes.  I recently decided that my life was a bit off-track so I revisited the mission statement and after some praying and updating this is what I came up with.  I'm posting here as a reminder to myself and as a way to stay accountable.  So when you see me feel free to ask me how I'm doing with this!

I will...
...love the LORD my God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my strength
…Commit my life daily to the purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ.
..Spend some time each day praying, meditating on and memorizing God’s Word
...have a healthy lifestyle (high protein, low carb food plan & exercise)
…manage our finances in order to have more to give
...have fun and worry less
...maintain a sense of humor in all situations
...be a loving and supportive wife
...encourage my sons to follow the Lord and pursue their dreams
...maintain a pleasant home and provide healthy meals
...plan fun family times (meal times, vacations, family game nights, plays, etc)
...strive to maintain strong and healthy friendships
...be a lifelong learner
...continue to pursue relevant job skills in order to have a fulfilling lifetime career
...find a flexible career so that I can be more involved in ministry & mission trips
